Luke Harding has written an interesting article on the growth in Russian tourism abroad focusing on resorts in Turkey. He also notes that China is second on the list of top destinations for Russian tourists, after Turkey, and notes that the foreign tourism centres around the middle class in Russia who can now afford one holiday per year following the economic book seen during Putin’s reign. He also points out that before the fall of communism in Russia the people were not allowed to holiday outside of Russia, and also importantly that today many resorts within Russia have become considerably more expensive than visiting resorts in other countries.
