Finally, after much headscratching I have found a piece of work I have been seeking for a while now -Steffi Klenz’s project ‘Nonsuch’ which focuses on the model new town of poundbury in Dorset. The asthetic of these images is similar to how I will shoot in Thames Town in Shanghai shortly with added hints of China included. The banality of such a suburban British town is very true to life and one that seems to be missed by the Chinese who desire to occupy such spaces to have a piece of England in China. Combining this approach with portraiture in the style of other medium and large format photographers such as Alec Soth and Barry Cawston is a style that is really exciting me about photography again!

Have a look at Nonsuch on Klenz’s website here: Steffi Klenz
