I was reading through some more of the Photobook Vol II by Gerry Badger and martin Parr. I’ll have to add the page number when I get a chance to look at the book again but for now, here is a quote that I liked becasue I feel I should be reading more literature on similar themes to those I am attempting to explore through my photography:
“The title (of John Gossage’s, ‘The Pond’), reflects ironically upon Henry David Thoreau’s back to nature classic novel, Walden (1854), and its famous pond. As Dan Meinwald has said, ‘If Thoreau declared that living properly was an art, and that man could only live properly in nature, Gossage is declaring that man cannot live properly in nature”
Pretty much sums up my current feelings on our interaction with the environment really…
