Encoding, uploading and imploding… 31st August 2008

So after a few hours sleep it was time ot get back to sorting out the multimedia.  I reencoded the set not in FCP this time or Quicktime but using the Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder and the final result is close to being perfect in relation to what was on the timeline.  Some of thetransitions are still abit strained with digital noie being introduced but on the whole it is suitable for upload.  And this is where the fun begins.  As it turns out, my flat appears to be blocked from uploading much over a few kilobits at the moment so after a wasted 4 hours in the afternoon i finally managed to send it to Nick Kozak to upload to my server.  Alas, it still was not embedding so after yet more hours reading everything i could I finally found it was because the Runtime javascript linked in Dreamweaver for the flv was on my harddrive, not my site so after redorecting the code and uploading the file I was finally in buisness, about 22 hours later than hoped but still within deadline.  Quite glad I wasn;t nasty to the Hostgator people when I was having the uplaod problems because without their comments that the problem was my end I woulld never have thought to Skye it over to Nick to upload for me and would have been dashing about tomorrow morning looking for a cafe to upload from…

As I type this I am running an action to create small versions of the just over 1000 images for the landscape of leisure project to enable my poor very abused recently mac to make contact sheets and after that just need to do the same for the 360 or so Thames Towm images, plus a little resizing I had forgotten about due to the change in layout for the magazine and then term 2 is officially over.  If you want to see the final uploaded multimedia have a look at the multimedia section on my new website layout.  The rest of the site will be working in the next few days as I slowly migrate from the old layout to new once I work out why slideshow pro director is locking me out again.
