Located in Songjiang, about 30km from the centre of Shanghai, Thames Town is a new develpoment completed in 2006 and designed to offer a disctinctly English living experience to the Wealthy of Shanghai. The project includes detached housing, a church and even traditional fish and chips. This would be the ideal site to base my work focusing on the New Wealth and middle class within China as it combines both the traditional and highly recognisably image of English middleclassness with modern suburban China.
